Center for Minority Health Services BASUAH Communities of Color Initiative Getting Started in EGrAMS – PDF | EGrAMS Instructional Guide – PDF Application due date is Friday, August 1, 2014 at 4 p.m. Applications are now being accepted for programs that are interested in participating in the Brothers and Sisters United Against HIV/AIDS (BASUAH) Communities of Color Initiative. “Communities of color” is used to describe those racial and ethnic minorities that have been given priority attention by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health because of their well-documented health needs and disparate health status when compared to the total population. For the purpose of this document, the term, “Communities of Color,” refers to African Americans, Latino/Hispanic Americans, American Indians and Alaska Natives, Pacific Islanders, Asian Americans, and immigrants from Africa and the Caribbean. The focus of the fiscal year 2015 campaign will be HIV prevention, education, testing and care programs targeting communities of color. Programs should be unique and culturally innovative, sustainable, and increase the Illinois Department of Public Health Center for Minority Health Services’ ability to address the complexities that make these populations more vulnerable. Get Covered Illinois Illinois In-Person Counselor (IPC) Grant Program FY 2015: RFA Instructions - PDF | Getting Started in EGrAMS – PDF | EGrAMS Instructional Guide – PDF Applications must be received by 5 p.m. CST on August 1, 2014 The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), in coordination with Get Covered Illinois, is pleased to announce a funding opportunity for organizations seeking to assist Illinois residents in enrolling in coverage options and affordability programs made available through the federal Affordable Care Act (ACA). Grants are targeted to serve populations currently without health insurance and expected to benefit from the ACA’s expansion of the Medicaid program and provision of financial assistance for the purchase of Qualified Health Plans (QHPs) under Get Covered Illinois. In-Person Counselors will be critical to the success of both the education/outreach and enrollment efforts as Illinois works to deliver on the ACA’s promise to ensure secure, stable, and affordable health coverage for all Americans. Alzheimer’s Disease Research Fund Grants Getting Started in EGrAMS – PDF | EGrAMS Instructional Guide – PDF Application due date is Friday, January 30, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. CST Applications are now being accepted for Alzheimer’s Disease Research Fund (ADRF) grants. Grants are only available to Illinois researchers. Funding is granted to institutions and not to individuals. Research may be provided by one or more individuals under the authority of an institution. Research grants are available to students, residents and fellows. Grants must be used to investigate epidemiology, etiology, pathology, diagnosis, care, treatment, evaluation, cure, social and economic impacts, or other important fields of study pertaining to Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. Although many applications are biomedical or technical in nature, research in the fields of gerontology, nursing, psychology, behavioral science, public health and economics are encouraged. Research also is encouraged in the areas of respite care, in-home care, long-term care, health care finance and psychosocial issues. All proposals must be based on sound research methodology. The Alzheimer’s Disease Research Fund is supported by contributions made by Illinois taxpayers through their annual income tax returns. | The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking to fund 5-8 organizations to provide HIV prevention or HIV treatment engagement or adherence services in SFY2016. Funding available for SFY 2016 Illinois Quality of Life Fund grants is expected to equal $500,000. However, actual grant awards will be based on funding availability and appropriation. Applications for the SFY2016 grant cycle are welcome from any eligible organization (see Grant Guidance). Overall agency size will determine an organization's competitive category in the application process. Organizations with an annual budget of $300,000 or less may apply for up to $75,000 and will compete with like-sized organizations for 50 percent of the annual fund. Organizations with an annual budget of $300,001 to $700,000 may apply for up to $75,000 and will compete with like-sized organizations for 25 percent of the annual fund; and organizations with an annual budget of $700,001 and above may apply for up to $75,000 and will compete with like-sized organizations for 25 percent of annual fund. The grant selection process will prioritize applications that demonstrate effective targeting of High Impact Prevention services including treatment engagement and adherence services to populations at highest risk for transmitting or acquiring HIV. Services to specific high risk populations will be allocated in proportion to the distribution by population of recent Illinois HIV Disease incidence among risk groups as reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health. |

Ryan White Part B funds are provided to IDPH through a federal grant specifically for the provision of medical and support services to Illinoisans living with HIV/AIDS. The Department utilizes eight HIV Care Connect regional networks to accomplish this objective and meet this federal obligation. Center for Rural Health - Community Health Center Construction Grants Funding opportunity announcement for federally qualified health centers and look-alikes in Illinois through the Community Health Center Construction Act. The Illinois Jobs Now! capital program will provide capital funds to help improve health care access in underserved communities and create jobs. Funding will help the state to improve health outcomes for medically underserved Illinoisans, reduce health care spending and save taxpayers money. The Community Health Center Construction Act was signed into law by Governor Quinn in 2009. Letters of intent for this program must be received by June 5, 2014. Applications must be received by July 10, 2014. |

Deadline for submission of applications through the Department's Electronic Grant Administration and Management System (EGrAMS) is by close of business Friday, October 31, 2014. Training instructions for completing the grant application are also available on EGrAMS.
Awards will be made to qualified applicants who demonstrate that they have the funds to pay 50% of the cost of the AED for which the matching grant money is sought at the cost determined by the State Master Contract or the Department. The Heartsaver AED Fund Grant award for FY 2015 is $466.00 or at 50% of the purchased AED price if less than $931.48.

| The Penny Severns Breast, Cervical and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund is a special fund within the state treasury that is used for breast, cervical and ovarian cancer research grants. Revenue sources include general revenue funds, income tax contributions and gifts, as well as grants and awards from private foundations, nonprofit organizations and other governmental entities or persons. Grants support research in areas related to breast, cervical and ovarian cancer prevention, etiology, pathogenesis, early detection, treatment and behavioral sciences. Research also may include clinical trials. Although a majority of the applications submitted are bio-medical in nature, researchers in the fields of behavioral and social sciences also are encouraged to apply. |
