"Project: Long Sleeve Shirt"
Radio Script
BOSS (AUTHORITATIVE SOUNDING): Wilkie,
whadya got?
WILKIE (NASALLY SOUNDING KNOW-IT-ALL):
Uh, sir, we've been developing innovations to protect people from the West Nile
virus, and we've had some recent breakthroughs.
BOSS: Time's wasting.
SFX: CURTAIN BEING PULLED, A GASP IS
HEARD
WILKIE: Sir we call this first
one
bug spray.
BOSS: Bug spray?
WILKIE: The name's a work-in-progress.
(SFX: Spray) You apply it to exposed skin and clothing and voy-la - no
mosquitoes.
BOSS: Impressive. What else.
SFX: CURTAIN BEING PULLED, A GASP IS
HEARD
BOSS: The sleeves on that shirt
They're so
WILKIE: Long? Hence the title,
Project: Long Sleeve Shirt. With longer sleeves, mosquitoes can't bite people's
arms and thus, no West Nile virus.
BOSS: Will it work with shorts?
WILKIE: We have reason to believe it
will.
BOSS: You're good, Wilkie. You're
very, very good.
VO: The West Nile virus can be deadly.
But it's no match for common sense. Apply bug spray with deet, wear pants and
long sleeve shirts, and stay indoors during prime mosquito hours like dawn and
dusk. Avoiding the West Nile virus
(SFX: THWACK)
is in your hands.
