"Door Made Entirely Of Screen"
Radio Script
BOSS: Wilkie, whadya got?
WILKIE: Sir, we've been developing innovative
ideas to help people protect their homes from mosquitoes that may carry the
West Nile virus.
BOSS: I'm waiting.
SFX: CURTAIN BEING PULLED, A GASP IS HEARD
BOSS: It looks like a door
made entirely
of
screen.
WILKIE: Our team calls it the "screen
door."
BOSS: Catchy.
WILKIE: Installing or repairing screens in doors
and windows keeps mosquitoes out. Thus, no threat of West Nile virus.
BOSS: It really IS a new millennium.
WILKIE: We also discovered that if people remove
standing water around their homes, they remove the places where mosquitoes'
gather.
BOSS: And just how do you propose that people
remove this
water?
WILKIE: By pouring it out, sir.
BOSS: You're good, Wilkie. You're very, very
good.
VO: The West Nile virus can be deadly. But it's
no match for common sense. Repair all screen doors and windows. And remove
standing water from flower pots, kiddie pools, pet bowls, and other areas
around your home. Avoiding the West Nile virus
(SFX: THWACK)
is in
your hands. A message from the Illinois Department of Public Health and your
local health department.
